The long time king of denim, Levi’s, has just released news of the newest iPod accessory. RedWire DLX jeans, due out sometime late in 2006, are fully compatible with your iPod.
This latest addition to the onslaught of iPod accessories and related products will allow you to control the following functions; play and pause, volume, and tracking forward and back, all without ever removing the iPod from your pocket. The functions are controlled from a small joystick within the trademark “fifth pocket” on Levi’s jeans and the iPod itself is held in another pocket that also contains retractable headphones. The “RedWire” that connects the iPod to the pants themselves is long enough to allow the owner to take it out and view the LCD.

Speaking of iPods, my mother recently bought one of the iPod Video players for Christmas. She asked if I could lend a hand in loading it up with songs and also help her figure out how to use it. At first I was quite disappointed in the fact that Apple forces you to use their iTunes software to transfer playable music to the player. (The iTunes software is fully integrated into their pay-per-song download service. Imagine that.) I would much rather be able to drag mp3s right to and from the player from Windows Explorer. But, after I got over that fact and loaded the iPod with a few videos, I am quite impressed with it.
The video quality is very acceptable, although not as good as PSP, and the sound quality is superb. I am actually considering buying one of these for myself.
