Ashlyn Gere was the queen of early 90’s porn. A former cheerleader in high school, she struggled for years as a mainstream actress. She was discovered by adult director Paul Thomas, who cast her in the second part of his Masseuse series after he had seen her in a Penthouse spread. Ashlyn’s most successful years were 1992 and 1993, during which she also starred in John Leslie’s legendary adult movie CHAMELEONS, also starring Diedre Holland. According to some industry sources Ashlyn starred in 40% of all porn movies produced in the U.S. from 1990 to 1994. No wonder then, that Ashlyn’s current filmography lists close to 250 hardcore titles!
She stopped performing in adult movies in 1995, but Ashlyn Gere has never explicitly stated that she won’t perform in adult flicks anymore. Her future as one of porndom’s most desirable females remains uncertain though. She is definitely one of my all-time favorite performers and who knows, now that’s she’s in her early 40’s it may just be time for a return to the big screen.
You never know when you might see Ashlyn Gere pop up in a mainstream Hollywood movie. Last I heard, she was still auditioning for bit parts in various movies. Some of you may have seen her in Jet Li’s 2001 movie, The One.
